God? Do you See me?

Do you ever feel like you are on an island and the rescue plane keeps flying by, but you’re too small for them to see you?
Maybe you’re not good enough to be saved.
Wondering if they are searching for someone else instead of you.

If I am being totally honest, this is me right now. I am on an island…alone. No one but me, myself and I. It’s not that I am physically alone. I can literally be in a room full of people who love me right now it’s like I am wearing these glasses that make it look completely empty.

Depression can feel like that…like you’re waving frantically sending smoke signals to Heaven, but no one sees the smoke from your fire. The enemy whispers, You’re not worth saving, and with each missed “fly-over,” you start to believe him more and more and more until you blow out your own fire because what is the point?

But Scripture tells a different story. Jesus said,

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?”

Luke 15:4

You are the one who is lost. It feels like I am constantly “that one”. He doesn’t overlook you. He’s not waiting until you’re louder, better, or more put-together (Thank goodness). He is searching for you right now, exactly as you are. Where you are.

Sometimes the “rescue” doesn’t look like a roaring plane in the sky — sometimes it’s a quiet voice in the storm saying,

“Do not be afraid, for I am with you”

Isaiah 41:10.

Sometimes it’s the lifeline of a friend who texts at the right moment. Sometimes it’s simply the strength to get out of bed when yesterday you couldn’t.

Your island isn’t hidden from God’s sight.

“If I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast.”
Psalm 139

No matter how far out you feel, He knows your exact coordinates.

So today, you may feel stranded, unseen, or left behind, but heaven has already dispatched the Rescuer. He is not circling aimlessly. He’s coming straight for you. And when He arrives, He won’t just lift you off the island

He’ll carry you home.
